Professional Formula Growth is a super premium dog food with the highest digestibility and palatability. Growth offers optimal nutrition for growing puppies from 6 weeks to 1 year of age, providing the protein, vitamins, minerals, and energy that puppies requires, without being excessive. Protein and fat in excess of what a puppy utilizes for muscle and bone development will be stored as fat, placing stress on growing joints. It is also an ideal food for the pregnant or lactating bitch, or for working dogs that need the extra energy that Professional Formula Growth provides.
 

Growth contains carefully selected chicken by-product meal as the main source of protein. Growth also contains whole dried eggs, which is the most digestible source of protein available. The primary source of starch is corn and rice. Rice is one of the most digestible sources of starch, and contributes to the excellent digestibility of this product. A major portion of the fiber in this product is from beet pulp, which aids in the production of short chain fatty acids in the gut. Short chain fatty acids are important in maintaining a healthy digestive tract, and help improve stool quality. High quality poultry fat is added to the food as a source of energy, and as a source of essential fatty acids important for shiny haircoat. No artificial flavorings, coloring agents or preservatives are added to this product. Growth contains extra vitamin E and vitamin C for added health benefits, especially during this stressful growing period. There is no need to supplement Growth with additional vitamins- the vitamins are in the bag.

FEEDING DIRECTIONS:

When switching foods, take about one week to make the transition to Professional Formula Growth. Each day, increase the amount of Professional Formula Growth fed, and decrease the amount of the previous diet. Professional Formula Growth is highly digestible and palatable, and contains more calories per cup than many other puppy foods. Feed the proper amount of Professional Formula Growth to promote growth and proper body condition. We do not recommend free-choice feeding of Professional Formula Growth, since many puppies will overeat and become overweight. Overfeeding is detrimental to growing bones and joints, and may result in skeletal abnormalities.
 

Young puppies should be fed three to four times per day, since their stomach capacity is small. As puppies get older, the number of feedings per day may be reduced to twice daily. The energy needs of the growing puppy are highest during the first 8 months of life. After 8 months of age, energy needs decrease, but are still higher than the adult dog.

Each dog is an individual and must be fed according to its individual needs, depending on activity, growth, physiological state, and physical environment. Growing dogs, pregnant or lactating females, or hard-working dogs will require more food per day. Inactive dogs will require less.
