FEEDING DIRECTIONS:
Feed Buckeye Turkey Starter as the sole ration until the young poults are eight weeks
of age. When the poults are eight weeks of age make a gradual feed change to Buckeye
Big 4 Pellets. This should be done by mixing Buckeye Turkey Starter Crumbles and
Buckeye Big 4 Pellets at the rate of 50:50 for a two week period and on the tenth
week the poults should be receiving only Buckeye Big 4 Pellets. Have clean, fresh
water available for the young poults at all times. Keep the birds in a clean, well-ventilated,
and dry environment free of drafts. Also reduce possible stress in the young growing
poults by allowing adequate room for the birds along with optimum room temperature.
At ten weeks of age the toms should weigh approximately 13 lb and the hens about
9.5 lb. The amount of feed required to obtain this growth is about 25 lb for the
toms and 20 lb for the hens. These values for the rate of gain and the amount of
feed required to obtain these weights is very dependent on the strain of birds, environment,
general health and condition of the birds.
